Photo Criteria For Submission

INSTAGRAM Cats!
Since 2013, we have devoted a new CAT-egory to Instagram cat photos - which are printed in smaller sizes and with captions. For 2014, we will be picking some to feature. So do hashtag your instagram pics with #catsoftheworldphotoexhibition so we can shortlist them and ask you to send the instagram photos to us along with some info. You can also follow us at our Instagram account 'CatsOfTheWorldPhotoExhibition'

The deadline for submission of normal photos is 30 May 2014. Please send your BEST cat photos to sublime.carla@gmail.com - Thank you :)

PHOTO CRITERIA:

CONTEXT/ SETTING:
Cats in unique situations, settings or countries, that capture the unique flavours of the backdrop; be it a cat napping in a Cambodian temple or slinking next to a Grecian column, or sunbathing atop a thatched rooftop. We accept cats photos shot in Singapore and around the world in far flung away places.

CHARACTER:
Cats with personalities that make you go awww, ooooh, yaaay, heehee; pictures that elicit any type of sounds from the viewers are generally heading in the right direction. We are tickled by photos that capture the feline characteristics - including lazy, aloof, loving, graceful, sneaky, timid, streetwise, boh-chap, fiesty, etc.

STORY:
A picture speaks a thousand words - sometimes great pictures need no words as the emotions (pride, envy, love, sadness) are written over the cats' faces. We look for photos with a story to tell, or one with a strong punchline or matching captions.

QUALITY/ QUANTITY:
Digital photos have to be clear and at least 300 dpi to be blown into A4/A3 size quality for exhibiting's purpose. We also accept black/white, sepia, lomo or iphone photos as long as their quality is not compromised. There is no limit on the number of photos you can submit but please be discerning in your photo selection and try to submit no more than 10 of your best entries.

PAYMENT:
This is an entirely self-financed and non-profit project, thus all contributors are required to pay a nominal S$10 per Shortlisted Photo to cover some admin costs and to contribute towards the fundraising. So if you have 3 Photos Shortlisted, kindly note that you have to pay S$30. You don't have to pay anything at the photo submission stage. We welcome entries from all ages including children too and will credit the photos to the photographers. The proceeds from the sale of photos and postcards will be donated to CWS via a cheque donation.

SELECTION:
The selection process is determined by the organisers and entry decisions made are final. All print/sale and reproduction rights of the photos belong to Cats of The World Photo Exhibition once selected for exhibition. The organisers reserve the right to re-print and sell the photos for fundraising purposes or make them into magnets, postcards and other merchandise to raise funds for our adopted charity.

COTW is on TV!

Yipee! We are happy to raise S$4,000 this year for Cat Welfare Society :) this is made possible with all the kind support from the sponsors to photographers and loyal fans of COTW and legion of cat lovers. The money will be put to good use on the sterilisation and welfare of our community cats.

We are also thrilled to be interviewed alongside Veron Lau of Cat Welfare Society on AM LIVE show on Channel News Asia (20 August 2013) and not forgetting our kitty asmbassadors - Scarface and David from Lingcat Feline Services, who are so well behaved and sweet. We can't believe these 2 were once tom cats who were terrorising other kitties. Only after sterilisation, then they transformed to calm kitties who are happy to stay indoors with their owner Rebecca.

You can watch the TV interview clip at this link : AM LIVE

Our message on TV is - Keep your cats indoors and please sterilise them! The worse kind of irresponsible pet owners are those who abandon pets.

A victim of pet abandonment is BeBe Orange who was cruely dumped at the multi-storey carpark along with 2 other cats. One of them died and the other disappeared. She was left to fend for herself and was crying in stress, and begging passerbys for food. BeBe slept at the corridor if it wasn't raining and was happy to sit on her feeders' lap. One day she was limping due to a paw injury and  her feeders called us to help send her to the vet. After medication she was fine and housed in a cattery for 2 months before we were lucky to find a fosterer for her from our Facebook page (thanks Janelle!). Otherwise we will have to release her back to the carpark due to limited funds. So after 4 months+ and 3 adoption drives, Bebe finally found her furever home in Rini and her wonderful family! Every kitty deserves a happy ending.

Since its inception in 2007, this endearing community project has garnered a following among cat lovers, photographers, travellers as well as families and children. It features photos from aspiring and professional photographers from all walks of life, illustrating that cats all over the world are the same - lovable and purrrrfect! Cats Furever Yours

We visited the cats adoption drive at Light Of Life vet (Blk 740 Bedok Reservoir) in late October. Most of the cats were brought to the clinic for the day so people can interact with them and consider them for adoption. It was a tad stressful for them but these brave kitties did well and put on their best behaviour. Their ages and backgrounds vary. Each has a story to tell... if you care to listen and hear them purr. Please come forth and open your hearts and homes for these furballs. Email lingcat@singnet.com.sg or sublime.carla@gmail.com for more details. Thank you.

Shy Crepe Suzette is less than a year old and has the most amazing orange eyes.
She is friendly but a little timid. Email lingcat@singnet.com.sg for more details

David was a stray cat living at Lengkok Bahru area. Due to his sweet temperament, he was badly injured twice by other stray cats and now off the streets. He is a big tabby fellow and a very affectionate boy who wants your TLC. He gets along well with other cats, especially kittens who look to him as a surrogate dad.
He has won awards at a few cat contests, including Best Dressed Dracula (photo below -just kidding ;)
Estimated to be 7 to 8 years old, he is litter trained. He is FIV+ (which means he has a lower immune system) but FIV+ cats can live as long as normal cats if they are in a safe unstressful loving environment. Email lingcat@singnet.com.sg to view and adopt him!

Emerald is 7 years old and a sweetheart. She has been left behind by her owner who passed away.
This purr machine is easy-going, friendly and good with other cats and kids.
We are happy she has been ADOPTED! :)

Young sweet Lucie was found hungry wandering the streets, begging for food and hiding in the bushes. We brought her to the vet to inspect her missing right eye (which is fine) and also sterilised and vaccinated her. She is tested negative for FIV/ FELV. During her sterilisation, she was discovered to be in early stages of pregnancy and was aborted. She is a classic case of abandonment and left to fend for herself. She is young (about 3 years old), affectionate, easygoing and has very soft fur (due to her mixed breed). Her colouring is gorgeous - white, light coco brown and black striped markings.
She has been ADOPTED too :)

Mandala is a few months old, and active and playful as a kitty should be.
Won't you bring her home and play with her?

Regal Solomon is a handsome pure breed with a Russian blue shiny coat.
Less than 1 year old, it is a very vocal and expressive kitty.
Call Light Of Life vet clinic at 6243 3282 for more details.

MoMo is only a few weeks old and he got a a great personality already.
Who can resist him? Love love.

Dottie's 4 kittens are 8 weeks old - 2 girls and 2 boys. Balls of energy as kittens should be!
Lots of interest in them so there is careful screening to find the right adopter.

Stereo is a year and half, and is an affectionate, vocal, gentle sweet baby with beautiful markings
and a perfectly long racoon tail with obvious grey stripes.
He prefers hugs to treats and likes to talk a lot hence the name Stereo. LOL.
His home is currently a public carpark and void deck in Pasir Ris, and he likes to sleep on the bench and lets his trusted friends caress him. Please take him off the streets so he can be in a safe loving home.
Email sublime.carla@gmail.com

Thank you and blessings.

We did it again!

Yay we did it again! We raised $3,700 this year for Cat Welfare Society! BIG thanks to everyone who made this happen - from the sponsors and Purrzaar vendors to contributing photographers, literary contributors and all the kind supporters :D

We hope to raise more next year but need to think of more ideas and avenues to encourage people to give and be part of this "Love Cats" movement. If you want to contribute your skills/talents at the next Purrzaar in August 2013, contact us at sublime.carla@gmail.com  You can be an artist and draw for free, or a fabulous home baker who wants to contribute cupcakes to sell, and all the money goes to CWS. Get the point? Good, let's dance!
